Cricket needs your assistance

Cricket is a petit girl of about 4-6 years of age, and came to SRN from an Alabama shelter. Cricket was surrendered by her owners for unknown reasons. We suspect her owners were unable to handle her medical needs. Update: 01-16-2012: Cricket is under her new veterinarian care. She is now on heart guard and Doxycycline for treatment, and prevention of new microfilariae and Wolbachia. Tests revealed that Cricket has an extreme infestation of microfilariae and she has a moderate infestation of adult heart worms. Cricket's exam shows that she is not yet "clinical", and ... Currently we have multiple medical needs Schipperkes in rescue
Cricket - heart worm positive
Bandit - unstable diabetes and special diet
Bailey - heart rate instability pulmonary disease (maintained)
Bonnie - recovering from patella surgery
Sasha - recovering from inner ear removal and pending spaying
Donner - extended senior support, diabetes
We also have two new rescues that are scheduled for exam and estimates of care for extreme dental disease and overall poor diet and weight management.
These are eight of fourteen rescues in foster homes that have special concerns and will need the support of rescue for an extended period before they can be placed up for adoption. They do not include the dozen rescues receiving standard care and preparation for adoption, or the small handful of rescues that will remain in rescue throughout their remaining life. Most of these loving Schipperkes were abandoned in shelters with no hope of adoption or living a happy quality life.
It is our goal to give each of these rescues the life they deserve, full of happiness, love, companionship and quality of life.
If you would like to help us provide Cricket or any of our other Special Needs rescues with the lifesaving medical care they desperately need, we will be very grateful.

The downturn in the economy has hit many of us quite hard. As a result, SRN is receiving more and more requests to surrender Schips, many of them seniors who will be difficult to place. SRN has an innovative new solution, but your help is needed. Please click HERE
