Jasper is very thin and weighs about 11 pounds. He is having more blood work, as a result of information received from his first set of blood work. The veterinarian believes we can restore this boy to a comfortable and healthy life style, and he may require daily medications.
Jasper was aged by the Veterinarian as 10+, and, most likely, he is probably 12 to 14 years old.
This poor boy was found as a stray. He probably was on his own for a while, as he is a little low on his weight even after having regular meals in the shelter before we found him.
His medical exam showed him to have ear mites, poor coat, slightly low weight, cataracts, and severe dental disease. He has pus oozing from his gums, and is now on an antibiotic. Once the infection is under control, he will need dental surgery. We are expecting several teeth will be removed, and know that at least four have already fallen out. We are waiting on lab results to know if there are any other precautions needed before surgery.
This boy is a sweet dog and has done nothing wrong. His health needs were obviously neglected. We will be giving him a new name soon and a new start on healthy living, but it will come with cost.
If you would like to help us restore this loving Schipperke boy to health, we would certainly be grateful for any amount you can donate.
